Erasing Wor(l)ds
Performance, analog photography / 10x15cm / 2022
Black and white double-exposed photoprints consist of images of my body and maps of the places in Ukraine that have been shelled by the russians.
Following "Like a stain on the carpet" project's idea of identifying myself with the homeland and its geographic maps, and extrapolating the destruction on my own ouvre, during the performance I am erasing the names of the Ukrainian cities from the prints.
Using a stain bleach for carpet washing, I am reenacting what the russians do by marking with the russian-language sign the city of Mariupol, which was completely destroyed by the very themselves.
The performance happened during the Captured House collective exhibition at the Alte Muenze in Berlin, Germany
